We believe the sky is for everyone to enjoy and experience in ways that range from contemplation to flight in its most creative forms. Advances in technology have provided us with the gift of flight that has progressed rapidly in the 100 years since the Wright brothers made history - so rapidly that we find it difficult to keep up with the demands placed on a very precious resource: the airspace around and above us.
In this wonderful country of ours, we enjoy freedom of flight that is unparalleled anywhere else in the world. Nowhere else can people enjoy so many different forms of flight so easily and so economically.
However, responsible use of this shared resource of airspace takes cooperative management in order that we can enjoy what belongs to all of us. We foresee the day when each of us can experience all the wonders the sky offers us, and see that achieved by respectful collaboration with all users.
The New England Free Skies Association, Inc. (NEFSA) is a non profit organization incorporated as a charity in the state of Massachusetts. NEFSA is applying for Federal 501(c)(3) tax exempt status, but the process is not yet complete. Our leadership and program activities are provided by a growing group of committed volunteers.
Originally founded as the American Free Skies Association, we are now the New England Free Skies Association. The new name reflects our sharpened focus on issues in our local area. Our principles and aspirations haven't changed, but we realize that our limited resources will best be employed working for solutions here first. As we succeed in New England, we hope we can become a model for other similar efforts across the country.
